The society in which we live and work today sees the world and our place in it in a variety of ways. Contested and sometimes conflicting views about what it means to be human inevitably create diverse understandings of sex and gender. Some of these views have significantly influenced social perceptions and legislation, as well as healthcare and education, and so have implications for Catholic schools both in pastoral care and in curriculum.
