Zindel Segal PhD, is a Distinguished Professor of Psychology in Mood Disorders at the University of Toronto. His study of mindfulness meditation and antidepressant medication has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, CNN Health Online and the New York Times. An author of over 10 books and 100 scientific publications.
He is also one of the founders of Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
Segal combines mindfulness with conventional cognitive behavioral therapy, which teaches patients to develop a different relationship to sadness or unhappiness by observing and without judgment.
